Description

What is Matte Liquid Metal Gold Color PPF?

Apterix CLR Matte Liquid Metal Gold is a ceramic-infused color paint protection film (PPF) with a rich gold finish and suspended metallic flakes that produce active shimmer and dimensional depth — all delivered through a smooth matte surface. It is the most explicitly metallic gold in the Apterix CLR lineup, and it belongs squarely to the Liquid Metal series: the family of finishes (Liquid Metal Silver, Liquid Gun Grey, Liquid Titanium Gold) characterized by suspended metallic particles that produce movement and depth within a matte surface. Of the five gold and warm metallic products in the catalog, Liquid Metal Gold is the one that maximizes the metallic quality — the gold that catches light, moves with viewing angle, and radiates the warm, active shimmer that the name promises.

This differentiates it clearly from its gold family neighbors. Matte Twilight Gold is a pure smooth matte with no shimmer — warm amber-gold without metallic particles. Matte Liquid Titanium Gold has a metallic character but tempered by cool titanium undertones for contemporary restraint. Matte Liquid Metal Gold is unconstrained: full warm gold saturation with active metallic flake depth, producing the richest, most radiant gold expression in the lineup.

Key features:
- Finish: Smooth matte with active metallic shimmer — the metallic flakes produce dimensional depth and light movement beneath the matte surface; warm and radiant rather than flat or restrained
- Tone: Rich warm gold — fully saturated, warm-shifted, with the radiant quality of actual liquid gold
- Metallic character: Active — suspended metallic flakes shift in intensity and depth with viewing angle and light source, producing a finish that reads as alive and dynamic
- Self-healing surface: Minor scratches fade with heat activation — on a metallic matte, surface disruptions affect the particle alignment that produces the shimmer effect, making self-healing essential for maintaining the finish's full radiant character
- Hydrophobic coating: Repels water, dirt, and road grime for effortless maintenance — keeping a warm metallic surface clean preserves its full shimmer and depth
- UV and chemical resistance: Maintains vibrant color and finish over time — warm gold metallic pigments are UV-sensitive; the amber warmth and metallic particle integrity both require ceramic protection to hold over time
- Precision fitment: Conforms perfectly to luxury sedan body lines, exotic sports car geometry, and premium EV platform contours
- Ceramic infusion: Hard, impact-resistant base layer protecting against chips, scratches, and daily road debris
- Technology base: Apterix CLR Color PPF platform

What vehicles is it best for?

Matte Liquid Metal Gold is purpose-built for luxury sedans, exotic sports cars, and high-end EVs where gold is a maximum-impact design statement — not restrained or tempered, but fully expressed. It is the choice for builds where the owner wants their vehicle to radiate warmth and opulence in the most direct possible way: a gold that commands attention through shimmer, depth, and active light interaction rather than through subtlety. It pairs with dark chrome or gloss black trim, piano black accents, deep tinted glass, and contrast wheel finishes that frame the gold's radiance. For buyers who want gold with cool titanium restraint, Matte Liquid Titanium Gold provides the tempered alternative. For buyers who want gold without any metallic shimmer, Matte Twilight Gold delivers the pure warm amber matte.

What problem does it solve?

Matte metallic gold — a finish with active shimmer contained within a non-reflective matte surface — does not exist as a factory automotive color option and is technically complex to achieve in custom paint, requiring a metallic gold base coat plus a matte clear that preserves the flake movement without flattening it. Standard gold vinyl wraps lack metallic depth and degrade rapidly under UV. Apterix CLR Matte Liquid Metal Gold delivers the full matte metallic gold experience through a ceramic-infused PPF that protects both the gold pigment warmth and the metallic particle integrity from UV-driven degradation, heals minor surface damage automatically, and can be removed without paint impact when the owner's direction changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions?

What are the requirements to become an APTERIX dealer?

APTERIX dealers are carefully selected, not mass-enrolled. We partner only with established automotive service businesses that demonstrate proven installation expertise, professional facilities, and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Our network is intentionally limited to elite detailers, wrap shops, and specialty automotive centers capable of meeting APTERIX installation and brand standards.

Shops with existing experience installing premium PPF systems—particularly current XPEL or SunTek dealers—are prioritized, as they already understand the technical precision and discipline required at this level. Not every shop qualifies, and that is by design. APTERIX is represented only by installers who can protect the integrity, performance, and reputation of the product.

What kind of training and support do you provide?

APTERIX training is built in partnership with The Wrap Institute, the industry’s leading education platform for professional wrap, PPF, and tint installers worldwide. With thousands of certified installers and a reputation for setting the standard in installation best practices, The Wrap Institute brings deep technical credibility and proven curriculum to our program.

Together, we offer APTERIX-specific hands-on installation training, certification pathways, and ongoing product education, ensuring installers are fully equipped to work with our films at the highest level. Dealers also receive direct access to our technical support team, along with marketing materials, co-branded assets, and our dealer portal—packed with resources, documentation, and best practices to help grow and scale their business.

How does APTERIX PPF compare to other brands?

APTERIX is positioned at the absolute top end of the paint protection film market—built for customers and installers who refuse to compromise. While many brands focus on scale, volume, or flashy variety, APTERIX is engineered around one principle: maximum protection, longevity, and consistency across every film we produce.

Compared to XPEL, APTERIX clearly separates itself by prioritizing film performance and long-term ownership over mass distribution and software dependence. XPEL is widely used, but APTERIX goes further—delivering longer warranty coverage on its flagship clear films, tighter quality control, and a more refined product lineup designed for premium installations, not production-line throughput.

Against color-PPF brands like Inozetek and PurePPF, the difference is even more pronounced. Those brands emphasize color variety first; APTERIX starts with protection-grade engineering and then layers color on top. APTERIX:CLR is not vinyl-inspired color film with a protective label—it is true paint protection film that happens to be color-dialed, delivering real impact resistance, optical stability, and durability that lower-tier color PPFs simply do not match.

APTERIX doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. It is deliberately built for the top of the market—luxury vehicles, performance cars, and owners who expect their protection film to perform at the same level as the vehicles it’s installed on. The result is a cohesive, high-end PPF system—clear, matte, and color—that outperforms mass-market and color-only competitors in the areas that actually matter: protection, longevity, and confidence over time.

What warranty coverage do you offer?

APTERIX offers industry-leading warranty coverage across its entire film ecosystem.

Our gloss and satin/matte PPF lines (including PRO and EVO) are backed by a 15-year warranty, as is APTERIX Color PPF, covering defects such as yellowing, cracking, peeling, and delamination under normal use and proper installation. APTERIX window tint is protected by a lifetime warranty.

What are the minimum order requirements for dealers?

Initial dealer orders vary based on your market and business size. We work with each partner to establish appropriate inventory levels. Our dealer success team will discuss specific requirements during the application process.

Do you offer exclusive territory protection?

Territory assignments are evaluated on a case-by-case basis depending on market density and dealer performance. We prioritize quality partnerships and ensure adequate market coverage while maintaining dealer profitability.
